TIMELINE

scheduling

Please make sure hair/makeup is completed for the bridal party, bride and mother of the bride by the time I arrive. I will photograph the touchups for makeup on the bride. After that, we will photograph you/anyone present journalistically and then you getting into your dress. This ensures that we will not fall behind with our timeline. Let's avoid all stress having a proper plann  ;)

2 of 7

Please make sure you have these things at your prep location: Bouquet, Jewelry, Garter, Invitation, Veil, Shoes, Rings (All 3) in a special spot for me. Provide any hanger for your dress other than a plastic one.

prep

3 of 7

Make sure the groom & groomsmen are getting ready in the same hotel or within 10 minutes of the bride’s prep location so they can be photographed. The groom needs to prep himself by putting on his shirt & pants. He will be photographed getting into his tie, jacket (etc.) Also, remember this entire day- you are on camera. Embrace the day with smiling with a warm heart. While you are getting into your dress or during your ceremony, be present, be joyful and embrace your incredible celebration!

CREATIVE Tip:

Have your florist bring extra stems/ribbon so I can use them for creative styling with your invitations (etc.) to your prep location if you'd like.

If you are getting married inside. Please ask the lighting engineers to put soft neutral lights on the stage. Make sure that there are soft neutral lights on the bridal party too if they are up there with you so the light can be even.

ceremony

unplugged ceremony

Consider having a ceremony that is unplugged. An unplugged ceremony is a previous request to your guests to not use their iPhones or cameras during the ceremony. It’s difficult for guests to be present in the moment with the bride & groom when they are so focused on taking photos during the wedding. Instead of having attentive guests, you could see up to 150 phones. Often times, guests will put their phones in the aisle way or raise them over their heads. This in turn, affects your photos. Together, we will work to achieve the most stunning, emotional images for you.

Please let all of the family members you desire in the photos know in advance to meet us at the altar following the ceremony.

having a videographer?

Great! We work well with videographers. Please ask them to remain at least 15 feet away from you during the ceremony so they are not in all of your images. Thank you!

engagement
guide

I recommend wearing 1-2 outfits. Complimentary works best. You don’t need to match or the colors will blend together. One person could wear a pattern, than the other person could wear a solid color or both could wear two separate solid colors. Feel free to wear a long, flowy gown or a playful outfit. Make sure your attire formality matches each other. For example, if your lady is wearing high heels, then your man should be wearing dress shoes (not flip flops) (etc.) If you are unsure or if you need specific help, let me know!

what to wear?

view example outfits

If you are wearing an outfit that is prone to wrinkling, I recommend arriving at our determined location a little bit early + put on your outfit on site. Not all locations have places to change, but just be concious of wrinkles in your clothes during your travels.

If you have everyday insecurities every time you take a photos (like you always feel like your arms look too big etc), I recommend wearing something to flatter your insecurities (i.e. wearing a dress that has sleeves). I also don't recommend wearing very lose fitting clothes (i.e. baggy shirts). They do not flatter or photograph well.

makeup & hair

Hairspray is your friend! Make sure you don’t have a bunch of random hairs that will fly up in the wind. As for makeup, apply a tiny bit more than your normal amount. Some type of lip color also helps make your best features pop. Also, skin conditions (acne, etc.) happen to all of us & it’s okay. The best way to handle them is with makeup. Making skin look beautiful in pictures will be easier if redness is removed in real life. So, even if you are a man (Sorry Men!!)- please cover up skin conditions so they won’t show in the pictures.

what about photoshop?
photoshop is a graphic designer's alteration program. yes, just about anything is possible when it comes to graphically altering photos. we are thankful to have a fantastic graphic alterations team. all requests must be made through our page, which you will receive with your online gallery. photos average about $10-$20 each.

what to bring?

You can bring a lipstick with you, bottled water and a towel if you are prone to sweating. Please be prepared to leave all belongings in your car. You will not want to have to worry about leaving a purse on a bench while we take photos.

how the session works

Get excited! We will have a blast together. I will direct you in a comfortable and lighthearted manner. We will take some traditional photos of you both looking at the camera and a bunch of journalistic ones. It's also really important to show up on time. I plan session times based on the placement of the sun in the sky + how it will interact with the best backdrops available at your location to give you beautiful photos. Time missed due to tardiness will not be added to your session.
